The wonderful thing about every miracle Christ performed is that they were both literally and symbolically instructive. This painting of Christ lifting Peter out of the Sea of Galilee was painted from the perspective of Peter to communicate that we are the ones sinking into the raging sea of sin and trials and need to call upon Christ to lift us above the water.
